General Research Interests
The application of biotechnique (young embryo culture, tissue culture and organ culture) in creation
of new rice germplasms;study on development of flower organs;observation on embryo sac of
polyploidy rices.
Specific Research
The focus of my research is to creat mutants, which are very useful in developmental and productive
biology ,by distant hybridization and young embryo save. The hybrid parents included rices(Oryza
sativa) and common cutgrass(Leersia hexandra).I have selected some new germplasms, including
rice mutants ( FM1FM2 and FM3 ) of floral organ ,autotriploid rices autotetraploid rices and
so on.
FM1 is the mutant which can't enter reproductive growth from vegetative growth and keep the state
of vegetative growth all alone (see Fig.1).FM2 is the mutant which can enter reproductive growth
from vegetative growth and produce panicle branches. However,FM2 can't produce panicles and
caryopses (see Fig.4 and Fig.3).FM3 is the mutant which can produce panicles, but there are no
pistil and stamina in the panicle (see Fig.2).It has been confirmed that the mutant traits of
FM1FM2 and FM3 are respectively controlled by a pair of recessive genes in genetics. The
mutants are kept in segregating progeny.Normal plants to mutant ones in the progeny show a 3:1
ratio( X2=0.21,0.50 I'm 27 years old, from China.
